About the Creator:

Lauren Foley

Lauren Foley grew up in LaGrangeville, NY, where her passion for music began. Lauren attended the University of Massachusetts - Amherst from 2018-2022 where she earned her Bachelor's of Music in Music Education while studying flute with Dr. Cobus du Toit. She was also heavily involved in the UMass Minuteman Marching Band and served as one of the Drum Majors in 2021.

Currently, Lauren is teaching at Malden High School where she is responsible for the instrumental music program. This includes a Beginner Piano and Guitar class, a Rock Band class, as well as Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, who make up the Marching Band.

This website was created for the purpose of satisfying the American Band College’s MUS 618 Seminar: Practical Application.

MUS 618’s Objective is:

  • Enhance conducting skills by improving understanding of instrument-specific techniques, rehearsal practices, and classroom management strategies.

  • Create materials that synthesize information for use with the candidate's own band program.

  • Develop a project related to candidate study areas that focus on student development in flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, rehearsal techniques, and other related aspects.
